Cheap National Auto Insurance and Marriage

When a person undergoes a major life changing event such as marriage, there are many different things that may be affects. One of these is their auto insurance. Many newly married couples elect to combine their auto insurance together. This, of course has an effect on the rate. In many cases combining policies will allow them to get a cheaper rate and take advantage of any discounts that may apply. One other benefit of this is that their auto insurance will be through the same company and their bill combined.

Marriage can also have another effect on auto insurance if one spouse has a poor driving record. This may make it more expensive to combine the two policies together. This is because all people who may be driving the automobile’s driving record will affect the insurance cost of each vehicle. In some cases this can be avoided if the spouse with the poor driving record signs an agreement stating that they will not operate the additional vehicle that belongs to the other spouse. This is known as a named driver exclusion agreement and is sometimes the best option for maintaining cheap national car insurance.

Finally, there is always the option of changing insurance companies or coverage levels. In order to maintain a low price, some newly married couples will choose to change to a different company that offers a lower rate. It is important to make sure the lower rate is still for a similar amount of coverage. Another option is to lower the amount of coverage all together. This will in turn lower the premium. Agreeing to pay a higher deductable in the event of an accident is another way that married couples can lower their premium and save money on their auto insurance.
